Fifty shades of sun-kissed Dakota Johnson soaks up some rays in string bikini while holidaying in Mexico with mom Melanie Griffith and Kris Jenner

She's had a hectic schedule in recent months promoting the release of her box office smash Fifty Shades Of Grey.

And after recently splitting from boyfriend Matthew Hitt, Dakota Johnson was no doubt in need of some quality girls' time.

The 25-year-old actress was seen in Cancun, Mexico with mother Melanie Griffiths, 57 and her pal Kris Jenner, 59 soaking up the sun in a cream string bikini.

may not be summer here but let's not get too depressed at yet more pictures of celebrities sunning themselves on exotic beaches. Let's use this as an opportunity to plan ahead for our own holidays. We've seen so many bikini-clad stars now we've got a pretty good idea of what the world of swimwear holds for us this season.

And while we love the one-piece trend and retro high waist bikinis have definitely got a place in our suitcase, there's something appealing about a simple string look like Dakota's. And why not ditch the boring black or bold colourways and opt for something altogether more subtle?

Dakota laid out on a floral patterned sun lounger showing off her fabulous figure in the skimpy garment and kept a book by her side for some relaxing holiday reading.

Her long brown tresses hung loose around her slender shoulders and she shaded her eyes with tortoiseshell rimmed sunglasses.

Melanie was seen in a tropical-print swimsuit and lay next to the Kardashians star, while Dakota sprawled out several feet away from the matriarchs on the other side of a shaded day bed. 

Melanie, the ex-wife of Don Johnson (Dakota's father), shared several snaps to her Instagram showing the beautiful decor and surroundings of their vacation accommodation describing it as 'heaven on earth'

A source said: 'Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn't something that he wanted to be a part of.' In an interview in Vogue in January, Dakota said of starring in Fifty Shades Of Grey: 'It’s just the most insane thing to be a part of,'  'I’ve never experienced anything like this; I don’t think anyone has. It’s terrifying—and it’s exciting.' The Social Network star portrayed Anastasia Steele in the bestselling erotic book turned movie with Jamie Dornan as the title character Christian Grey.
